Let’s Talk About Tipping: A Groomer’s Honest Perspective

Tipping in the grooming world can be a touchy subject, and I think it’s time we talk about it—openly and honestly.
At Coat Care Canine Spa, I’ve set my prices intentionally. They reflect the time, skill, care, and love that go into every appointment. My pricing allows me to provide top-tier service without having to rely on tips to make ends meet. That said, I know tipping is often customary in this industry, and when it happens, it means the world to me.
Tipping is a kind gesture. It tells me that the service met or exceeded your expectations. And yes, those tips go straight toward things like my children’s school expenses, and I never take that for granted.
But here’s the truth: I never expect a tip.
Whether you tip or not, your dog always gets the same level of patience, care, and attention. Every pet is treated like one of my own, no matter what.
Behind each groom is a lot more than just bathing and brushing. I spend time getting to know each dog’s personality, accommodating health or behavioral needs, and making sure every pet leaves feeling their best. My pricing reflects this personalized care, the high-quality products I use, and the one-on-one time your pet gets with me.
I’ve had clients who show their appreciation in so many meaningful ways. Some bring a caramel frappe as a surprise treat. Others drop off gently used towels or bring snacks during the holidays. I’ve received Christmas cards, thoughtful gifts for my kids, and heartfelt thank-yous that mean just as much as anything monetary. These gestures remind me that my work is valued and that’s more than enough.
I understand that not everyone is in a place to tip, and that is completely okay. Your trust, your loyalty, and your kindness are what truly matter. I am so grateful for the relationships I’ve built with each of you. Grooming your pets is more than just a job to me, it’s a joy and a privilege.
If you're new to Coat Care Canine Spa, please don’t feel pressured. Come see what we’re about. I hope you feel the difference in how your dog is treated and how deeply I care about what I do.
Thank you for trusting me with your pets and for being part of this amazing community. If you ever have questions about pricing, services, or what to expect, I’m always happy to chat.
With gratitude,
Veronica
